Feeding a floating pellet is preferred by many to help monitor how your fish respond when it comes to feeding time. Seeing the water boil and fish jumping is a great way to tell how much your fish are eating on the surface. But what’s happening below the surface of the water? Are all of your fish getting the proper nutrition they need to perform their best? Unfortunately, it’s hard to tell by just watching the pellets float on top of the water.
By targeting the entire water column with a slow sinking pellet, some of your fish may perform better by having the ability to chase down their prey (feed) as it floats down below the surface. By request, we’ve made this sinking pellet for all your pond needs. Feeding a sinking feed will help those shy fish get the nutrition they need to grow their best. In addition, if you have major bird predation pressure, having a sinking feed protects those fish from coming to the surface and allows them to eat freely.
If you aren’t sure what feed you need, we recommend getting a bag of our standard lines and mixing it with the sinking pellet. That way, all the fish in the pond get the nutrition they need, whether they are bottom dwellers or not.
For use in feeding bluegill and other pond fish species. To minimize impacts on water quality, feed as much food in ten minutes as fish will consume. Feeding at the same time every day is suggested. For more feeding information and tips, visit optimalfishfood.com/feeding-tips.
