Of all the trophy fish we’ve seen on cabin walls, tv shows, or at the end of our lines, none loom so large as the Largemouth Bass. For a long time, these elusive monsters would hide in small ponds or secret honey holes. Today, coupled with modern pond and lake management techniques, trophy bass can be raised in private waters with exceptional results. Growing these fish on pelleted feed can be very tricky and has been (and continues to be) a major area of interest for us at Optimal Fish Food.
Optimal Handthrow is a specialized 44% Protein/8% Lipid diet formulated for adult bass. Just like people, bass requires less fatty diets in their later life stages. Most extruded feeds, especially those with elevated protein numbers, have difficulty keeping the lipid content down. This stems from the lipid content being brought in with many common protein sources. Optimal Fish Food has been working with specialized ingredient manufacturers to produce highly digestible protein sources that are also low in endogenous fats.
Our bass formulation comes in two different sizes; one is a 9mm pellet designed to be the largest pellet most common automatic feeds can throw without clogging. The other is a 1” pellet for those who use a more “hands-on” approach to feeding.
Optimal BHandthrow utilizes innovative ingredients and extrusion techniques to target the challenge of growing trophy bass on pelleted feed. The reinforced micronutrient levels standard in all Optimal lines combined with the wave of innovative aquafeed ingredients creates a bass feed we continue to receive exciting feedback from.
A trophy bass pond requires carefully executed management techniques, and Optimal Handthrow provides a powerful tool in growing big healthy bass.
For use in feeding bass and other pond fish species. To minimize impacts on water quality, feed as much food in ten minutes as fish will consume. Feeding at the same time every day is suggested. For more feeding information and tips, visit optimalfishfood.com/feeding-tips.
